New season, new-ish wardrobe. I don’t particularly love trend reports, but the fall trends have me really excited to try pieces that could potentially have a lasting impression on my wardrobe.
At the start of each season, I always have so much fun planning for the trendy items that I will incorporate into my wardrobe. After Chompy made his way through 3 pairs of my shoes last week, I have some vacancies in my closet and I’m taking my time filling them.
What I love most about these trends is that many of them can be thrifted or DIY’d, so there is a ton of opportunity to save a little money while looking stylish this fall. Keep reading to see my favorite picks!
These boots aren’t only popular because Cardi B likes them (like that), but also because they’re a refreshing update to the booties we’ve known and loved over the years. These booties look great with classic skinny jeans, and even better with a pair of wide leg or straight leg jeans.
Summer 2018 was pretty great, and we want to hold on to those summer vibes as long as possible. Shell jewelry – from basic anklets to statement earrings – are everywhere right now. The best part is that you can incorporate them into your wardrobe via an easy DIY. If you prefer to buy rather than DIY there are so many styles that you can easily find laid back pieces as well as more polished ones to add to your accessories and fit your style.
I’ve been on a personal mission to find the perfect rainbow stripe sweater, and I finally gave in and purchased this one on on Forever 21. Rainbow has been seen all over the place in 2018, and it’s only fitting that it makes its way to into fall wardrobes via sweaters.
Plaid is still making its way into our hearts and our wardrobes, and these blazers aren’t going anywhere for fall. You can purchase one new or search local thrift shops for vintage versions.
I remember having a pair of white and silver cowgirl boots with a fringe when I was six, and man was I stylish and wore them with everything. My teachers called me their “Little Reba McIntyre.” Western is back, and these boots are on many of the It girls at NYFW and beyond. If you’re not totally into it (growing up in the south has made me allergic to this type of footwear, tbh) then give a nod to the trend with a western belt or fringe details.
Fanny packs have, to the amazement of scientists and trend experts alike, come back into style with a chic rebranding by the name of belt bags. Our hands-free storage prayers have been answered with this surprising twist on purses, and everyone has taken them in stride. There are a ton of affordable options, and even some DIYs, so you can try out the trend without investing too much of your hard-earned scratch.
Pearls aren’t just for preppy looks anymore. They are universally flattering and provide a classic twist on modern structural design. I love them in minimalist earring, and as an interesting accent on a structured bag. You can’t really go wrong with pearls!
I talked a bit about animal prints in this post, but they’re back and better than ever with a variety of colors and style to suit anyones wardrobe. Grab a vintage button-down and you’re good to go!
