As a girl who loves clothes, mastering the art of packing a curated suitcase has always been an elusive goal.
I see a lot of great methods of packing on other blogs (check here and here), but I typically like to pack intuitively and not treat packing as a win or lose situation. A lot of times we obsess over preparing perfectly and having a great plan in place, but I really enjoy the process and look forward to unexpected changes or challenging myself to do something a little different than last time.
Evan and I are headed out to Colorado this week, and we are beyond excited because it’s one of our favorite places in the world! The energy and vibes of the people and landscape there is unlike anything we’ve ever experienced and we’ve been counting down the days! Here’s what’s in my suitcase:
I brought 4 easy tops that can go with all of my bottoms. I do plan to do some outfit photos with the mountains in the background (can you blame me?) so I packed a little extra than what I would typically need, which really isn’t an issue because they are all pretty thin and light. I packed a sweater to wear on the plane and just in case the weather gets a little on the cold side while we’re there.
For going out, I packed my denim shorts and my white jeans. These will easily pair with whatever top I have and look pretty casual.
We like to do a nice dinner with Evan’s parents while we’re there, so I brought my jumpsuit and a nice maxi dress that can easily double as casual clothing.
I packed my denim jacket both as a styling accessory and just in case it gets a little chilly. I’m used to 100 degree temperatures, so anything in the 70s may feel a little cool to me!

The shoes were pretty easy. Just one pair of regular slide sandals, a pair of casual sneakers, and a pair of tennis shoes for any of the more active things we do.
Usually I don’t pack this much athletic clothing, but this will be a more active trip filled with hiking, mountain biking, golfing, and yoga so I decided to pack a little more than I think I’ll need just in case. That includes 3 bottoms (long leggings, shorts, and capris) and 3 tanks.
Colorado is a pretty laid back place, so I didn’t go crazy with the accessories. I chose my Longchamp bag because it packs down small and I won’t feel guilty in the event I don’t use it. A great pair of sunglasses, a nice belt to add a little something extra, and a scarf to hide any bad hair days. I love wearing a watch to the airport because we always get a little anxious we may miss our flight, so having the time so easily accessible and gives me peace of mind. A baseball hat will be essential to all of those outdoor activities.
There you have it! We can’t wait to be out west again (my allergies are begging for a change of scenery!) and I’m excited to share the bits and pieces of our adventures with you. Have you been to Colorado? What are some places I should add to my list?
Thanks for stopping by!
